PESHAWAR, April 28: The city police have abolished all posts of mohrar investigation and directed mohrars operation to assume charge in police stations, sources said on Wednesday. Capital City Police Officer Habibur Rehman issued a standing order on Tuesday, abolishing the posts of mohrar investigation and setting graduation as the minimum qualification for the appointment of assistant sub inspectors (ASIs), the sources said.
Although, there was no clause in the Police Order 2002 to appoint separate mohrars for operation and investigation, a former CCPO DIG Khurshid Alam had set up separate posts of mohrars in a police station in 2002.
The standing order asked investigation mohrars to continue duties at their police stations.
According to the Police Order 2002, only ASIs can be appointed mohrars. However, until now, head constables had been working as mohrars.
The sources said although graduation had been set as minimum qualification for ASIs, there were only five ASIs who hold bachelor’s degree, which might force the CCPO to reverse his order in this regard.
