GUJAR KHAN: Dec 29: There is no let-up in commuters’ sufferings at the hands of the transporters as the regional transport authority has failed to implement the revised fares at the local and intercity routes in the Rawalpindi district.
The commuters complained that the trasporters were fleecing the passengers at the Rawalpindi-Gujar Khan, Mandra-Daultala, Rawalpindi-Daultala, Gujar Khan-Sukhu-Daultala, Gujar Khan-Bewal-Jabbar and Kalar Syedan. The situation at Kalar Syedan-Rawalpindi, Kahuta-Rawalpindi and other routes is also not different, they added.
According to the commuters not a single wagon, van or bus had displayed the fares neither they furnish the list on demand. If anybody objects to this lawlessness he is harassed, abused and forcibly thrown out of the vehicle. The commuters have urged the commissioner Rawalpindi to ensure display of fare list at the wagon stands as well as in the public transport and a special helpline should also be established to ensure instant action against the over charging transporters.
SHOW-CAUSE NOTICES: The subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Gujar Khan DSP Mirza Jameel Baig on Monday issued show-cause notices to seven police officials for negligence and dereliction of duty and transferred them to the police lines.
These officials are Jawaid Iqbal, sub-inspector; Mohammad Nawaz, sub-inspector; Mohammad Fraz, sub-inspector; Farrakh Saghir, ASI, Liaqut Ali, ASI, Zaheerudin, ASI, Mohammad Ejaz, ASI.
WOMAN BEATS HUSBAND: A woman along with her two brothers gave a trashing to her husband and his brother in the office of local nazim on Monday. The nazim had summoned the two estranged parties to his office and was trying to reconcile them.
Rizwana Shaheen was married to Habibur Rehman and developed some differences with her husband. Habibur Rehman had submitted an application with Khawaj Hameedudin nazim city union council for reconciliation.
On Monday both the parties were present when Rizwana Shaheen who was adamant on getting divorce, rose up and started hurling her shoes at her husband.
Arshad and Ansar, the two brothers of Rizwana also joined her and beat Habibu Rehaman who sustained head injury.
The brother of Habib also got injured during the scuffle. The Gujar Khan police have registered a case under section 337-A-2 on the complaint of Habibur Rehman.
