LAHORE, Aug 28: Exiled prime minister Nawaz Sharif differs with his party leaders on his return schedule to Pakistan.

PML-N officials say some senior leaders at a meeting in London on Monday suggested that the Sharifs should return between Sept 6 and 9.

Mr Sharif said that he preferred to return on Sept 10 or 11, though final date for the purpose would be decided in a meeting on Wednesday (today), the officials said.

According to them, the Sharif family is also considering to charter a plane instead of booking seats on a commercial flight and former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has been assigned the task to make arrangements accordingly.

The officials say whether the exiled family opts for a chartered or commercial flight the timing for their landing will be peak hours of the air traffic i.e. between 12noon and 3pm.

The Sharifs as well as most of party leaders are in favour of selecting the Lahore airport for the landing, they add.

It is learnt that the exiled leaders expected a crowd of at least 500,000 people to welcome them. However, former Punjab secretary-general Khwaja Saad Rafiq told them that it would be difficult to achieve the target.

A local party leader said they would do their utmost to mobilise at least 100,000 plus activists for receiving the Sharifs at the airport.

Meanwhile, the second batch of PML-N leaders left here on Tuesday for London to attend the Aug 29 meeting there for finalising details of return of the Sharifs.

They included deputy parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Nisar Ali Khan, information secretary Ahsan Iqbal and Punjab president Sardar Zulfikar Khosa.
