QUETTA: The Supreme Court on Wednesday suspended the Balochistan Election Tribunal’s decision to suspend the membership of Nawab Jangiz Marri, a member of the Balochistan Assembly from PB-9, Kohlu, restoring his membership of the provincial legislature.

A three-member Supreme Court bench, headed by Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb, suspended the Election Tribunal’s July 29, 2026 order.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision, Mr Marri was restored as a member of the Balochistan Assembly. The ruling also led to cancellation of the Election Commission’s schedule for re-polling at four polling stations in the constituency on August 27.
