BAHAWALNAGAR: Bakhshan Khan on Monday registered a murder case against four members of the family of a married woman and arrested her father and brother three weeks after she was electrocuted in the name of honour and laid to rest.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Amir Siddique became the complainant in the FIR which alleged that 28-year-old Nazia Bibi was married off to Qasim around 10 years ago and the couple had an eight-year-old son. Nazia was living with her parents after a fight with her husband.

During this period, she allegedly developed a relationship with a neighbour, named Irfan.

According to the FIR, when Nazia returned home after visiting Irfan on the night between July 18-19, her family, including her father, mother, a brother and a cousin, subjected her to torture before killing her with electric shocks.

After making Nazia’s murder look like an accident, they told the people that she had died of electrocution and buried her in a local graveyard.

The police investigated and found that she had been tortured and killed by her family.

A police spokesperson confirmed that Nazia’s father and a brother had been arrested.

HONEY-TRAP: The McLeod Ganj Police arrested a man on charge of running a honey-tarp gang, trapping citizens, subjecting them to

violence after accusing them of rape and

extorting money by blackmail.

According to the FIR, registered on Aug 8 and 9, the gang, led by Maria Bibi from McLeod Ganj, had previously lured men with honey-traps, lodged rape complaints against them with the Haveli Lakha and McLeod police stations, extorted money by blackmailing them before reaching reconciliation.

It further alleged that on July 25, Maria’s husband, Iqbal, invited a rickshaw driver, Barish Farid, to their home on pretext of shifting household items, where six people, including the couple, beat him up, tore his clothes and took cash and cell phone from him.

They freed him on the condition that he would keep mum about the incident, threatening him with a rape case.

Similarly, on Aug 7, a livestock trader from Bholewala village was trapped by the couple under the pretense of selling him a cow.

They accused him of rape, attacked him along with four of their accomplices and snatched Rs150,000 from him before throwing him out of the home.

They also threatened to file a rape case against him if he spoke about the incident.

The DPO office’s spokesperson stated that the ringleader’s husband has been arrested, while raids were being conducted to apprehend other gang members.
