TAXILA: Two labourers in their 40s were buried alive in mudslide and boulders at a stone crushing site in the Salargah area of Taxila.

The deceased were identified as Zahid and Saddam were working at the crushing site when they were hit by mudslides and boulders falling after quarrying through explosives.

Sources said the incident occurred due to inadequate safety arrangements and lack of proper protective measures at the site. The victims reportedly hailed from Khanpur and Dir. Local police and rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident and recovered the bodies from the debris.

Police have launched an investigation and stated that legal action will be taken against those found responsible once the inquiry is completed.

Boy’s body ‘killed by father recovered’

Police in Attock have launched a search for a man who allegedly killed his three-year-old-year son and fled.

The semi-buried and tortured body of the minor boy wrapped in a bed sheet was recovered from a graveyard in Ghourghushti village in the limits of the Hazro police on Sunday, sources said.

According to police sources, the suspect had been released on bail just two days before the incident. He had previously remained behind bars in connection with the alleged murder of his two wives.

Police sources said the minor boy was living with his maternal grandmother after the killing of his mother. The suspect, identified as Sajjad Shah, reportedly took the boy away on the pretext of taking him home on Saturday. However, he subsequently disappeared along with the child. After the child’s body was recovered, police started raids at different locations to arrest the suspect.

Police said the suspect had fled after killing his son. The DPO Attock sought a report from the SHO Hazro and directed police to take swift action for the arrest of the suspect.

On the other hand, the tragic killing of the boy sent shockwaves in the locality, especially among his grandparents and relatives, who demanded the immediate arrest of the suspect and exemplary punishment to him.
