DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has said that Tank-Adda flyover will be completed within a month and it will help to ease traffic congestion on Circular Road.

Talking to a delegation of Central Traders Association on Monday, he said that Faqirni Gate flyover project would take a few more months to complete. The delegation was led by Sohail Ahmed Azmi, the president of the association.

Mr Gandapur said that work on Sports Complex was progressing rapidly and facilities including floodlights and hockey turf were being installed. The ground of Government High School No.4 and several parks had also been upgraded, he added.

He said that the roads leading to Mahmood Eye Hospital and meteorological department were temporarily closed owing to security reasons and would be reopened once the security situation improved.

The former chief minister said that several water supply and drainage schemes worth hundreds of millions of rupees were completed in the city and its surrounding localities. The road carpeting in main bazaars would be carried out after completion of drainage projects, he added.

He said that administration was also working to improve four major bazaars by introducing uniform signboards, improving drainage and carpeting roads, which would make those commercial areas more accessible and attractive.

Mr Gandapur urged traders to cooperate with the authorities by avoiding overcharging, keeping goods within the limits of their shops and refraining from dumping waste into drains.

Responding to concerns about healthcare facilities, he said that issues erupted when the number of patients exceeded the designed capacity of hospitals, citing the example of a 200-bed facility receiving around 600 patients.

Mr Gandapur said that law and order situation in Dera Ismail Khan, like other parts of the country, remained a serious concern.
