ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto today [Aug 6] said Pakistan would be quicker in eliminating all traces of the Sardari system compared to the time taken by other countries in dealing with similar problems. Mr Bhutto was talking to newsmen at the Islamabad airport where he received the Mauritanian Head of State Moktar Ould Daddah. The Prime Minister pointed out that although the Sardari system had been abolished, it would take some time to be out of the picture totally. All steps — legal, administrative, political and economic — had been taken for work of the new order. It would, however, be some days when the sun will set on the Sardari system in its totality, Mr Bhutto said. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Teheran,] U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger today joined the Shahanshah at the Caspian Sea for a series of talks. … According to an Iranian Government spokesman, the Shahanshah is anxious to find out from Dr Kissinger how to interpret U.S. Congressional moves to block major arms shipments to Iran. Iran is ready to step up oil shipments to the U.S. in exchange for F-14 fighter planes and the more advanced F-16. …
