QUETTA: National Party President Dr Malik Baloch on Thursday urged the federal government to resolve long-standing political and constitutional grievances of Balochistan people through dialogue and democratic reforms.

Addressing a party gathering at the Quetta Press Club, he said the NP has sent a set of proposals to the federal government and if these proposals are implemented, the situation in the province would improve.

He said the proposals include recognition of the Balochistan people’s right to self-governance in the province, non-interference in the election process, ensuring free and fair election, permanent resolution of the issue of all missing persons of Balochistan and an end to practice of enforced disappearances and dumping of mutilated bodies.

He said the proposals also include unconditional release of Dr Mahrang Baloch and all her associates.

He said unemployed youth of the province should be provided jobs on merit and Balochistan’s quota of employment in federal government departments and corporations should be implemented transparently.

“The people of Balochistan should be granted authority over their coastal resources as well as natural wealth,” the NP leader said, adding that instead of amending the 1973 Constitution and the 18th Constitutional Amendment, they should be implemented in letter and spirit.
