QUETTA: Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan President Asghar Khan Achakzai on Monday announced that the party will hold a public rally in Chaman on Aug 8 to commemorate martyrs of August, followed by a condolence reference in Quetta on August 17 in memory of victims of the Aug 8 tragedy and the Ziarat incident.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Achakzai said the party would not abandon the people amid worsening law and order situation, highway closures and growing insecurity in Balochistan.
He said all political parties that participated in the Ziarat protest sit-in, along with families of the victims, would be invited to attend the August 17 reference.
He expressed grave concern over deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Referring to killing of Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and the Ziarat incident, he questioned why no suo motu notice has been taken by the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court.
The Awami National Party leader alleged that the province is being deliberately destabilised and criticised the government for failing to address public issues.
