GUJAR KHAN: Police have arrested a woman for allegedly throwing acid on her husband, a schoolteacher, in Gujar Khan city, leaving him with injuries to his face and other parts of his body.
According to SHO Gujar Khan Inspector Tayyab Baig, the victim, Kamran Tanveer, reported to police that his wife had sought divorce from him after eight months of marriage.
The complainant stated that on Tuesday, he arrived at the office of the Secretary, Union Council, near Guliana Mor in Gujar Khan to attend proceedings related to the matter.
He alleged that his wife, who was already present at the location and had covered herself with a hood, suddenly took out a bottle containing acid and threw it on his face.
Police said the victim sustained partial injuries to his face, eyes and other parts of his body and was shifted for medical treatment.
Inspector Tayyab Baig said the accused woman was taken into custody shortly after the incident, and further investigations were underway.
An FIR has been registered against Ayesha Basharat under Section 336-B of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of her husband, Kamran Tanveer.
Both are residents of Mohalla Rajputan in Matoah village within the jurisdiction of Gujar Khan Police Station.
Police said they were investigating the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
