Terrorist attack on police patrol foiled in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: A police patrol party escaped a terrorist attack in the trans-river belt known as Kurrum Par area in Lakki Marwat district on Saturday night.

A police official said that a party from Dadiwala police station was on routine patrol in the area when terrorists attacked it with advanced weapons.

“The law enforcers were alert, and they took positions and responded to the attack,” the official said, adding that the gunfight lasted for some time as police fought bravely and repelled the attack.

He said that DPO Nazir Khan sent reinforcements to the area when he learned about the attack on a police patrol party in the trans-river area. The police, backed by armoured personnel carriers, launched a search for the fleeing assailants, he said.

DRUG DEALERS ARRESTED: The Karak police intensified actions against drug barons as two more narcotics dealers were arrested during raids on Sunday.

A police official said a party of Shah Slaim police station led by SHO Naseer Khan raided a narcotics den in the Dabri Banda area and arrested a notorious drug trafficker, identified as Adil Nawaz.

The police seized over two kilogrammes of hashish from his possession, and shifted him to the police station where a case was registered against him under relevant sections of law, he said.

Separately, another party of the city police station, headed by SHO Zafar Ali Khan, arrested a drug peddler during a surprise raid.

A police official said that the cops recovered over two kilogrammes of hashish from the arrested suspect and registered a case against him. During the action, the law enforcers also captured two outlaws and seized an assault rifle, a pistol and ammunition from them.
