Balochistan PA extends Safe City ordinance
QUETTA:The Balochistan Assembly has approved a resolution to extend the Balochistan Safe City Authority Ordinance 2026 by another 90 days.
Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Nawabzada Zarain Magsi introduced a motion to bypass procedural norms under Rule 103(2) for presenting constitutional resolutions under Article 128(2). The House consented to the motion.
Subsequently, Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology Samad Gorgaj presented the constitutional resolution.
He stated that the ordinance, originally enacted by the governor on February 10, 2026, during a legislative recess, aims to maintain law and order, bolster crime prevention efforts, safeguard citizens, and enhance law enforcement capabilities.
Gorgaj noted that the ordinance was due to lapse on May 9, 2026. Its extension was deemed essential for maintaining public safety. The assembly passed the resolution unanimously.
