Stone pelting damages e-bus’ window in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Panic and fear gripped passengers of a green electric bus after an unidentified person pelted stones at it, damaging its window glass on Peshawar Road on Tuesday.

Rhiraz Ahmad, a green electric bus route officer, lodged an FIR with the police, stating that he was on his way to Motorway Moor from Marir Chowk with about 100 passengers, including women and children, on board.

He said that as the bus reached near Charing Cross on Peshawar Road, an unidentified person pelted stones at the bus, damaging the window glass on the conductor’s side of the vehicle. However, no one on board was hurt or injured in the attack. The suspect fled the scene.

Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused. Meanwhile, three robberies were reported in different parts of the city, in which victims were deprived of cash, a laptop, and cell phones.

Maghaz Ali Safdar, a resident of Dhoke Kala Khan, complained to the Sadiqabad police that he and his two friends were heading towards their hostel when they were intercepted by two unidentified motorcyclists who blocked their way.

He said they were held at gunpoint by the robbers, who snatched three cell phones worth Rs225,000, a laptop worth Rs65,000, Rs4,000 in cash and other valuables before fleeing.

Aziz ur Rehman lodged a similar complaint with the Naseerabad police, stating that he was robbed of his cell phone worth Rs30,000 by three unidentified robbers. Mohammad Akbar Khan complained to the Race Course police that he was deprived of his cell phone worth Rs10,000 by two unidentified robbers.
