Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has told his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in a phone call that closing the Strait of Hormuz to US and Israeli ships is a “legitimate measure”, reports Al Jazeera.

According to Iran’s foreign ministry, Araghchi also said that the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is done in coordination with the relevant Iranian authorities.

He also accused the US and Israel of attacking civilian targets, schools, hospitals and historical sites, saying that Iran would continue to decisively defend itself, the statement said.
