Punjab to roll out mobile water wagons for tourists in Murree
RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government will start mobile water wagon and four filtration plants at prominent places to provide free of cost clean drinking water to tourists in Murree.
This was stated by Punjab Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin during his visit to Murree on Saturday. He also inaugurated the Wasa Murree offices.
He said that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provision of quality basic facilities to citizens and tourists is the top priority of the Punjab government.
He announced the establishment of mobile water van to provide free of cost clean drinking water to tourists during his visit to Murree.
He stated that the mobile wagon will ply on the main roads of the hill station, where people will get clean drinking water free of cost. Four filtration plants are being established on Kashmir Point, The Mall, Sunny Bank and Imambargah.
He said that the establishment of Wasa in Murree was to provide clean drinking water and develop the drainage system in Murree on modern lines. He added that the establishment of Wasa Murree will significantly improve urban facilities, and the service delivery system will be more effective.
During the visit, the minister took a detailed briefing from the officers of the Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA), Murree and the Public Health Engineering Department on the ongoing and proposed development projects in Murree.
MNA Raja Usama Ashfaq Sarwar, Director General Punjab Wasa Tayyab Farid, Additional Commissioner Revenue Omar Kiani and Managing Director PHA Ahmed Hassan Ranjha were also present on the occasion.
The minister directed that, according to the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, all projects in Murree should be completed on a priority basis and all possible facilities should be provided to the citizens and tourists. Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin visited the Rawalpindi Ring Road project and inspected the work.
The minister was briefed about the ongoing projects in the garrison city and upcoming development initiatives. During the briefing, highlights were shed on the important development projects, including the expansion of Rawalpindi Ring Road, Murree Road, the construction of an underpass connecting the double road Shamsabad with 9th Avenue and the construction of four modern parking plazas in the city.
The officials said that two parking plazas will be established near Kutcheri Chowk, while two will be established at Jinnah Road, Raja Bazaar. These projects will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the city.
