KARACHI: A teenage domestic help was found hanging inside a home in the Defence Housing Authority, with the police suspecting it as a suicide.

They said that the body of 17-year-old Nazeer Ahmed was found hanging inside servant quarters of a bungalow located on street-17, Phase-VI of the DHA.

A forensic team was called to collect evidence at the scene. The corpse was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

The Darakhshan police said CCTV footage from inside the house was being obtained.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that it appeared to be a suicide case. The South police chief said that during an initial probe, it transpired that the teenager ended his life “due to domestic problems,” adding that further investigations were underway.

Two men shot at, hurt by robbers

Two men were shot at and hurt by suspected robbers in separate incidents in the city on Friday, police and rescue services officials said.

A 33-year-old man was shot and wounded by robbers at Northern Bypass on Friday morning.

Gulshan-i-Maymar SHO Saqib Khan said that Abdul Khaliq was riding a motorcycle when armed pillion riders intercepted him near Namkeen restaurant on Northern Bypass. The suspects tried to snatch the bike from him on gunpoint. As he put up resistance, they shot him and fled without any loot.

He sustained a single bullet wound on his leg and was transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger. The officer said investigators had obtained certain clues about possible identity of the robbers and are working to arrest them.

In another incident, a young man was shot at and wounded by robbers in Korangi on late Thursday night.

The Zaman Town police said that Moiz, 25, was shot during a robbery near Shan-i-Karimi Masjid in Sector-50-A of Korangi. He was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
