Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he hopes recognition of a Palestinian state by various countries at the United Nations General Assembly this week will speed up implementation of a two-state solution,Al Jazeera reports.

Erdogan made the comments to reporters in Istanbul before departing for the opening of the assembly’s new session in New York, where he said he would also raise the issue of Israel’s “massacres” in Gaza.
