Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, has criticised the “blatant disregard for the protected status of humanitarian workers, facilities, and operations under international law”.

“The famine in Gaza is the result of deliberate restrictions on aid, destruction of vital infrastructure, and repeated attacks on humanitarian operations,” the agency wrote on X.
