The Israeli Broadcasting Authority has quoted a senior Israeli army officer as saying that Gaza City will be subjected to “unprecedented” bombardment today, Al Jazeera reports.

At least 19 Palestinians have already been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza City since dawn today, as Israeli forces intensify their attempts to seize control of the Strip’s largest urban centre.
