Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin has welcomed Belgium’s decision to recognise the State of Palestine, calling it “vital for preserving the two-state solution“.

“We welcome Belgium’s decision to recognise Palestine at the UNGA; a principled stance rooted in international law and vital for preserving the two-state solution. We urge all states to follow suit and act to end Israel’s crimes and occupation,” Shahin wrote on X.
