World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says more than 14,800 patients in Gaza require urgent medical treatment that is unavailable in the enclave, Al Jazeera reports.
His warning came as the WHO facilitated the evacuation of 32 children and six adults, along with 99 companions, for specialised care abroad, including to Italy, Belgium and Turkiye.
Tedros urged more countries to step forward to take in critical patients and called for the restoration of referral routes to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, “before it is too late”.
“Ceasefire! Peace is the best medicine,” he said.
