President asks citizens to care for those in need

• In Eid message, Senate chairman Gilani pays tribute to martyrs
• CM Bugti praises people of Balochistan for showing patience

ISLAMABAD / QUETTA: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Pakistani nation and the Muslim Ummah around the world on the occasion of Eidul Azha, emphasising the importance of promoting values of sacrifice, love, brotherhood, and unity.

“This day revives in us the spirit of faith, sacrifice, selflessness, and brotherhood. I pray that Allah Almighty makes this day a source of blessings, unity, and prosperity for our country and the entire Muslim Ummah. Ameen,” the president said in a message.

In a separate message, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also extended Eid greetings to the nation.

President Zardari noted that Eidul Azha commemorates the unparalleled obedience, sacrifice, and submission of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail.

“These great personalities set a shining example of devotion, loyalty, selflessness, and sacrifice by wholeheartedly submitting to the command of Allah Almighty. This day reminds us that no sacrifice is too great in seeking the pleasure of Allah, and that our individual and collective success lies in obedience to His will,” he added.

He called for drawing lessons from the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and integrate them into our lives. Today, there is a pressing need to support the underprivileged and marginalised segments of society.

“Along with the act of animal sacrifice, Eid calls upon us to make a solemn pledge to always care for those in need whether they are poor, sick, or destitute.

“As a nation, we must support each other, share in each other’s sorrows, and work together to build a prosperous and great Pakistan,” the president said.

On this occasion, the entire Pakistani nation must reaffirm its commitment to rid its hearts of hatred and prejudice, and with sincerity, contribute to the progress of the country and the elevation of the Muslim Ummah.

“May Allah accept our sacrifices, grant Pakistan peace, progress, and prosperity, and bless us with the strength to become a united and strong nation. Ameen,” he added.

The Senate chairman while extending heartfelt Eid greetings to Muslims across the world called it a time to remember the spirit of sacrifice and devotion.

Mr Gilani highlighted that the true message of Eid lies in selflessness and sacrifice, values that are essential for the progress of any nation. “We must give up personal interests and work together for the betterment of our country and society,” he added.

He called for unity beyond political divisions and stressed that Pakistan, built on great sacrifices, needs collective efforts for its development and prosperity.

In his message, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti while warmly congratulating the people of the province and the entire nation of Pakistan said the occasion “invites us to connect our personal joys with helping others and supporting those in need, fostering justice, love, and harmony within society”.

He praised the people of Balochistan for their enduring examples of patience, sacrifice, and solidarity. He added that on this day everyone must renew their commitment to remain united in building a peaceful, developed, and prosperous Balochistan.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental protection while sacrificing the animals to safeguard public health.
