Committee reviews anti-encroachment drive, prices
TAXILA: District Coordination Committee (DCCs) Attock on Saturday reviewed key initiatives, including the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, electricity theft prevention, prices of essentials and inspections of petrol stations.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rao Atif Raza chaired the coordination committee’s meeting at the DC office.
The session was attended by District Police Officer Dr Ghiyas Gul Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Aneel Saeed, Safe City Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahid Siddique, Wapda Executive Engineer Babar Mehmood and law enforcement officials.
In line with the Revised National Action Plan (R-NAP), the Punjab government has constituted DCCs to undertake a host of actions, ranging from curbing smuggling, ensuring registration of seminaries, as well as establishment of District Narrative Nerve Centres (DNNCs) to neutralise hostile narratives against the government.
The meeting reviewed key initiatives, including the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, electricity theft prevention, price controling and inspections of petrol stations.
It was informed to the participants that during the anti-traffic violation campaign from April 1 to April 30, a total of 6,408 fine tickets were issued. As part of the crackdown on illegal petrol stations, 31 fuel pumps were sealed, a fine of Rs198,000 was imposed and an FIR was registered.
Moreover, eight units involved in the illegal sale of LPG cylinders were sealed and fined Rs5,000. Moreover, during the anti-encroachment drive, fines totalling Rs92,000 were imposed. During the meeting, a detailed review of the ongoing development schemes across the district and other public affairs were also evaluated.
While briefing the meeting, the participants of the committee were informed that the development works for public welfare are going on in full force throughout the district and these works will be completed within the stipulated period. On this occasion, the deputy commissioner directed all the concerned officers to ensure timely and quality completion of development works, besides visiting the development schemes on daily basis.
