PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party has expressed serious concern about the reports of massive corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and announced to hold a protest rally against the provincial government on May 26.

According to a statement issued here, the decision about protest was finalised in a meeting at the governor’s house here the other day.

The party’s central general secretary, Mohammad Humayun Khan, and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi shared views about reports of corruption in public sector departments in the province.

It was stated that the meeting discussed the party’s protest plan against the provincial government’s ‘corruption and mismanagement’ to be held outside the provincial assembly building in Peshawar.

Governor Kundi praised the PPP’s efforts to highlight the issues faced by the people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and appreciated the party’s peaceful protest plan. Besides, the party’s organisational matters and the prevailing political situation in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were also discussed.

Mr Humayun appreciated the governor’s efforts in organising the protest and highlighted the party’s commitment to raising awareness about the province’s issues. They made it clear that the PPP’s protest was aimed at bringing the province’s problems into focus and pushing for better governance and accountability.
