Gaza’s Government Media Office has accused Israel of “kidnapping 15 emergency and civil defence personnel in Rafah” after they left to carry out rescue operations in the southern Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reports.

“We demand their immediate release,” it said in a statement.

“This heinous crime constitutes a flagrant violation of international law through the deliberate enforced disappearance of humanitarian personnel who are protected under the Geneva Conventions.”
