Palestinian prime minister reviews Egypt’s Gaza plan
Mohammad Mustafa has held talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Mostafa Madbouly, in Cairo, and reviewed Egypt’s plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, according to local media, Al Jazeera reports.
The plan — which seeks to counter Trump’s proposal for the US to take over Gaza and forcibly displace its Palestinian residents — will be presented at the upcoming Arab summit in Cairo.
Mustafa also held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
The pair offered more details of the plan at a joint news conference.
Abdelatty said Egypt will train a Palestinian security force that will be deployed in Gaza during the territory’s reconstruction.
Mustafa, who represents the Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank, said, “We are committed to maintaining security in Gaza, and forces will be trained to enforce the rule of law in the Strip.”
