The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, has stated that it is possible to rebuild the Gaza Strip without displacing its Palestinian population, Wafa reports.
In a press statement, Rajagopal highlighted that approximately 70 per cent of Gaza’s buildings had been destroyed as a result of Israeli military aggression. However, he emphasised that around 70pc of the region could be rebuilt within a period of 5 to 10 years.
Rajagopal also provided an estimated cost for the reconstruction of Gaza, which is projected at around $60 billion.
