Netanyahu wraps up US visit

Published

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is about to depart Washington, DC, and return to Israel after a busy week in the US capital, Al Jazeera reports, citing Times of Israel.

Netanyahu was welcomed at the White House by Trump on Tuesday, whom the Israeli leader has described as “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House”. It was after that meeting that Trump announced the widely criticised plan for the US to “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip.

Appearing on Fox News the next day, Netanyahu praised Trump’s plan as the “first good idea I’ve heard” and said it should be “pursued, examined, and done”, Al Jazeera added.
