The Egyptian foreign ministry has released a statement condemning “irresponsible” statements by Israeli officials that suggested establishing a Palestinian state on Saudi Arabia’s territory, Al Jazeera reports.

The ministry considered the suggestion a “direct infringement of Saudi sovereignty”, adding that the kingdom’s security was a “red line for Egypt”.
