QUETTA: One person was killed and seven others were injured in gas explosions in Quetta and Pishin on Tuesday.

Police said the gas explosion in Quetta occurred at a house in Pashtoonabad area. Gas had accumulated in the house due to a leak, and when the house owner lit a match, a powerful explosion took place.

Following the blast, the gas ignited, causing a fire. The man who lost his life in the explosion was identified as Hayatullah Achakzai. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital in Quetta. Other family members remained unhurt in the blast.

In another incident, a gas explosion in Pishin injured seven people, two of them seriously. Police said the powerful explosion took place in a private hospital located in the main Pishin Bazaar.

“It was a gas cylinder that exploded due to a leak in the hospital,” said police officials. The building of the hospital was severely damaged in the explosion. Some nearby shops in the bazaar were also damaged.

Police arrived at the scene following the explosion and shifted the injured to the Pishin District Hospital. Four of the seriously injured were later shifted to Civil Hospital in Quetta.
