Israeli PM delays sending negotiation team to Qatar before Trump meeting: report

A report by Walla media outlet quoting an unnamed senior Israeli source says Netanyahu has decided not to send a negotiation team to Qatar for talks on the second phase of a ceasefire deal until after he meets Trump in Washington, DC, Al Jazeera reports.

The report comes as negotiations on the second phase of the deal are set to begin tomorrow.

The Israeli prime minister reportedly cancelled a planned meeting with Mossad chief David Barnea, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and other senior negotiators, instead sending his military secretary, Roman Gofman, to inform them of the delay.

Meanwhile, The Times of Israel reported that Netanyahu is said to be considering appointing Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer as head of the team, arguing that the talks are more diplomatic than security-focused.
