Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum reports that the Israeli army has opened fire on Palestinians near the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza, as they awaited permission to cross into northern Gaza.

“Everyone is shocked that the Israeli military opened fire on them,” Abu Azzoum said.

The correspondent reported seeing military ships come closer to shore and the sound of drones becoming louder as the attack unfolded.

Al Jazeera aired footage showing displaced Palestinians ducking as they moved through the crowd carrying personal belongings including mattresses and blankets.

Abu Azzoum said no injuries have so far been reported.
