The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office has denied reports claiming the Palestinian Authority will oversee the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, Al Jazeera reports.
Instead, it says Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence agency will supervise the crossing. Its technical management will be handled by local Palestinians vetted by Shin Bet, ensuring they have no affiliations with Hamas, according to Israel’s Arutz Sheva media outlet.
Meanwhile, the Shehab news agency quoted Hamas’s political bureau official Bassem Naim as saying the Rafah crossing will be supervised by Palestinians and Europeans starting on Saturday.
