The chief of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has said that dismantling the aid agency would undermine the Gaza ceasefire deal and “sabotage Gaza’s recovery”.

A post on X by the UNRWA quoted chief Philippe Lazzarini as saying: “Dismantling UNRWA now, outside a political process, will undermine the ceasefire agreement and sabotage Gaza’s recovery.”

He made the remarks while commenting on the Israeli parliament’s bill to ban UNRWA at the end of January.
