Students showcase talent at engineering festival

LARKANA: Students showcased their creativity, technical skills and entrepreneurial spirit at an engineering festival titled “A Celebration of Innovation, Talent, and Insight” organised by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Larkano on Thursday.

The festival featured an engaging project exhibition, and a delicious food feast and provided a platform to students to put on display their innovative projects, explore practical applications of their studies and gain valuable insights into industry trends and technologies.

Dr Prof Mohammad Usman Kario, vice chancellor of the University of Larkano, and Dr Zahida Abro, head of SZABIST Larkana campus jointly inaugurated the event. They went round the stalls and interacted with students.

They emphasised the importance of innovation and international collaboration in shaping the future of engineering and technology, and highlighted the significance of educational skills and the role they played in the development of engineering field.

They said that the festival offered students an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and learn through practical work. “The projects on display not only exhibited the technical skills of our students but also emphasised their ability to solve real-world problems that benefitted the community, they said.

According to a handout issued by the university, the food stalls provided a unique business opportunity to students and helped them develop and hone their entrepreneurial skills.

The project exhibition featured a wide range of student-led initiatives tackling various challenges in areas like renewable energy, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and more, it said.

The food festival brought together a fascinating selection of local dishes prepared by students, offering new entrepreneurs a great opportunity to display their culinary skills and business acumen. The stalls served as a live example of how students could turn their passion into practical business ventures, promoting creativity and spirit of entrepreneurship, it said.

The judges evaluated the projects and winners were awarded shields and prizes. The first position went to “Report for Specification Pipeline,” the second was clinched by “Robotic Grass Cutter,” and the third was secured by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Hostel.
