Some 172 countries voted in favour of the resolution, which affirmed the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, while eight countries opposed it, Al Jazeera reports.

Israel, the US, Micronesia, Argentina, Paraguay, and Papua New Guinea voted “no”.
