KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead, a passer-by and a policeman were injured during a shoot-out in Korangi Industrial Area on Friday night, police said on Saturday.

They said that a police patrol indicated some suspects riding on a motorbike to stop at Godam Chowrangi near Saylani Dastarkhwan.

The suspects attempted to flee by resorting to firing. In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect was killed and another arrested in wounded condition. He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died during treatment.

They were identified as Shakil and Mohammed Zaman. The police claimed to have recovered two pistols and one motorcycle from their custody.

The police said that a snatched cell phone and cash were also recovered from their possession and a robbery victim had also identified them as the criminals who robbed him.

Constable Ayub and passer-by Samiullah also suffered injuries in the firing carried out by the suspects, the police said, adding that they were taken to a hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.
