MUZAFFARGARH: A man killed his sister and her friend for honour here on Tuesday in Seetpur area of Alipur tehsil.

Police said suspect Mulazim Hussain attacked Zaitoon Bibi and Fayyaz Hussain with an axe, killing them both at the scene. The motive for the killing is believed to be honour-related, as Mulazim Hussain suspected his sister of having relations with Fayyaz.

After receipt of information, police reached the spot and arrested the suspect. The bodies were shifted to hospital for autopsy.

Investigation SP Haseeb Javed said police registered a case against Mulazim Hussain.

ATTACK ON POLICE: Robbers opened fire on a Rohillanwali police team van on Tuesday.

SHO Zahid Mahmood Leghari and his team were returning to the police station after recovering weapons from suspect Naveed when they were ambushed by his unidentified accomplices.

The robbers opened fire on the police van. During exchange of gunfire, one of the robbers was injured by his own accomplices.

The injured robber, Naveed, was arrested by police and shifted to hospital for treatment.

ARRESTED: Police in an operation on Tuesday arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of youth Dilshad.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Alipur DSP Fayazul Haq and the leadership of Muzaffargarh District Police Officer Syed Hasnain Haider.

Dilshad was killed in the limits of Khairpur Sadat police station a month ago. The police arrested Zubair and Jahangir, and recovered murder weapon from their possession.
