Child among five gunned down over property dispute in Lahore

LAHORE: Five persons, including a child, were gunned down over a property dispute at a farmhouse in Chuhng area of the city on Friday.

Police say Hafiz Murtaza, Ghulam Mustafa, Khadim Hussain, Fahad and five-year-old Abubakar were at their farmhouse when three men arrived there in a car.

The visitors pulled out Kalashnikovs, sprayed the four men and the child with bullets and fled away, leaving all of them critically injured.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their wounds.

Chief minister seeks report from IGP

A heavy police contingent and forensic experts reached the spot, collected evidence and recorded the statements of eyewitnesses. The police teams also collected 50 empties from the crime scene.

The police shifted the bodies to morgue for autopsy and started investigation.

Lahore’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Anoosh Masood told Dawn that the crime scene evidence suggests that the suspects ensured killing all the people on the scene.

She said initial investigations revealed that the deceased persons and the attackers had a property dispute that resulted in killings.

She said the police were chasing the suspects after analysing CCTV footage and recording statements of the witnesses and would soon arrest the killers.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and sought a report from the capital city police officer (CCPO).

He directed the officers to constitute a special team to investigate the matter and trace the suspects with the help of CCTV footage and arrest them.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also took notice of five people’s murder and sought a report from the IGP.

He ordered early arrest of the killers to ensure delivery of justice.
