Rain expected in Karachi from tomorrow

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Thursday that Karachi and other parts of Sindh are expected to receive rain from Saturday (tomorrow).

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said the monsoon winds are likely to enter the province early Friday and reach Karachi on Saturday.

He said different parts of the province are expected to experience rain between Friday and July 5.

He said that thundershowers were expected in Karachi between July 3 and July 5 and there were chances of urban flooding especially in the low-lying areas.

Mr Sarfaraz said the city is also likely to experience dusty winds and windstorms, which could pose a threat to the city’s weak infrastructure.

The Met office has also asked fishermen not to venture out in the deep sea and exercise caution during the upcoming spell as sea conditions would remain rough.

Meanwhile, a contingency plan to deal with any emergency situation during the monsoon in the city has been finalised.
