SHANGLA: The police here on Sunday claimed to have arrested with help of local community an accused who had allegedly killed a man in the limits of Kamach police station.

A statement issued by district police officer Mohammad Imran said that one Aurangzeb had allegedly killed Sayed Khameer at Dewal area of Martung tehsil six months ago and fled the scene.

It said that the police arrested the accused with the help of local community.

The statement said that two accused Raj Mohammad and Fauji were arrested six months ago in the case and later they were granted bail by the court. However, Aurangzeb remained untraced and eventually police arrested him. He would be produced before court.

Meanwhile, the DPO rewarded the police personnel for their good performance in the local government elections held on March 31. In this regard, a ceremony was at the DPO office where Mr Imran gave cash prizes and certificates to 24 police officials, including constables, for their extraordinary performance in the polls.

PTI RALLIES: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists took out rallies in different tehsils of the district on Saturday night on the call of party chairman Imran Khan.

Party’s newly-elected tehsil chairman of Alpuri and other stalwarts in Bisham and Puran led the rallies in their respective tehsils.

The PTI workers gathered at Bisham Chowk on the Karakoram Highway where tehsil chairman Sadeedur Rehman and other leaders demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct early elections.

The PTI activists chanted slogans like “imported government namanzoor”. Such rallies were held in Aloch Bazaar in Puran tehsil and in the district headquarters Alpuri where tehsil chairman Waqar Ahmad and Abdul Maula led the protesters.

Speakers in the rallies said they would continue to support Imran Khan’s demand for early elections.
