459 more test positive for dengue; one dies

LAHORE: A dengue patient lost his life in Punjab during the last 24 hours while 459 more people tested positive across the province.

Of them, 346 confirmed cases were reported from Lahore, 46 from Rawalpindi, six each from Sheikhupura, Gujranwala and Sargodha, four each from Hafizabad and Kasur, three each from Attock, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Lodhran and Multan.

As many as 9,996 confirmed cases of dengue were reported across the province during the current year while 6,640 cases were reported from Lahore so far.

Dengue claimed one life in Lahore during the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 30 in the province.

Covid claims eight lives

A total of 2,212 patients have been admitted to hospitals across Punjab out of which 1,278 are in Lahore.

Punjab Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said 4,873 beds were currently allocated for dengue in hospitals across Punjab.

He said as many as 2,212 patients were under treatment on dengue allocated beds in Punjab while 1,278 beds are currently occupied by dengue patients in Lahore.

In the last 24 hours, 453,892 indoor locations were checked across Punjab while 96,809 outdoor locations were checked. Larvae were destroyed from 1,919 locations.

In Lahore, 62,564 indoor places were checked for dengue larvae, 9,245 outdoor locations inspected and 1,302 positive containers were destroyed.

COVID: Punjab has reported 171 coronavirus cases and eight deaths during the last 24 hours.

The total number has increased to 438,989 and the death toll is 12,895. In the last 24 hours, no death was reported from Lahore whereas eight deaths have been reported in Punjab taking the toll to 12,892.

During the last 24 hours, 16,845 tests were conducted making a total of 7,815,491 tests.

In the last 24 hours, 96 positive corona cases have been reported in Lahore, 17 in Rawalpindi, 9 in Multan and Jehlum, 6 in Sargodha and Faisalabad while three cases each were reported in Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan and Khanewal, respectively.

During the last 24 hours, the overall rate of positivity was recorded at 1.0 percent in all cities of the province, while the rate of positive cases in the provincial capital Lahore was 2.6pc, 1.3pc in Rawalpindi, 1.0pc in Faisalabad, 1.4pc in Multan.
