Rangers DG visits KU, pledges help in curbing narcotics’ use

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers director general Major General Iftikhar Husain Chaudhry on Thursday underlined the importance of joint efforts by teachers, parents and law enforcers to control growing trend of narcotics use in educational institutions.

He was speaking to the faculty members and students at a gathering in the University of Karachi on Thursday.

He said educational institutions played a key role in character-building of youth and ensuring a bright future of the nation.

He urged students to develop their character and build capacity besides promoting peace and development in the country.

The DG Rangers further said that the paramilitary force was ready and willing to extend all possible cooperation to teachers and parents in the fight against growing trend of narcotics in educational institutions, and added that they were expecting better results of such joint efforts.

“Citizens have played important role along with law enforcers for restoration of peace and elimination of terrorism in Karachi” he observed.

KU vice chancellor Prof Dr Khalid M. Iraqi appreciated the role of the paramilitary force in controlling narcotics at educational institutions, promotion of sports activities and the ‘Green Pakistan’ drive.

Later, the DG Rangers and the KU VC initiated a tree-plantation drive on the KU premises as part of the Green Pakistan initiative.
