ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have chalked out a security plan ahead of processions planned for Imam Husain’s Chehlum on Sept 27 (Monday).

Strict patrolling will be ensured in the city, police said.

According to the plan, heavy contingents of Islamabad police along with Rangers and personnel of other law enforcement agencies will perform patrolling and security duties. The main procession, to be taken out from Imambargah Asna-i-Ashri, G-6/2 will be completely cordoned off through heavy deployment.

DIG (Operations) Afzal Ahmed Kausar would himself monitor the overall security arrangements and will visit the routes of procession and ensure effective coordination among security personnel performing duties. Police officers will guide the personnel and boost their morale in accomplishing duties in a responsible manner.

Police officers including SPs will also visit various police posts along the route of the procession, check security duties and brief personnel on how to ensure effective security.

Streets and redundant tracks will be closed through barbed wires while proper lighting arrangements would be made along the route of the procession.

The procession will be monitored through safe city cameras, smart cars, surveillance and drone cameras and DG (safe city) would supervise this process. Policemen would be deployed at roof tops of buildings while sharp shooters would also take positions at various buildings. Staff of the Bomb Disposal Squad would conduct complete search of the procession’s route through modern technology.

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will devise a plan to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid inconvenience for road users. Close liaison will be maintained with organisers of majalis and processions. Cooperation of organisers will be ensured with the police and law enforcement officials.
