TOBA TEK SINGH: A retired government official was arrested for attempting to rape a minor girl at Shah Jeewana, Jhang, on Thursday.

In the first information report (FIR), the complainant said his 10-year-old daughter was going to a shop when the suspect, a retired food inspector, lured her to his home. He locked the child in a room where he tortured her and attempted to rape her.

The locals rushed to her rescue when she raised a hue and cry. Scores of locals, including relatives of the girl, besieged the house of the suspect after they came to know about the accident. However, he managed to escape.

Jhang police spokesperson Ali Abbas claimed that police had arrested the suspect later on.
