KASUR: Pattoki police arrested a man for detaining his mother and keeping her in chains at village Bahrwal on Thursday.
The 50-year-old woman was released from captivity after about three years. According to police, Muhammad Sajid had chained his mother, Seema Bibi, over a domestic issue after snatching cash and other valuables from her.
Following information, Pattoki police raided the house of Muhammad Sajid and found 50-year-old Seema tied to a charpoy with chains in a small room of the house. She was in bad physical condition due to malnutrition and was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pattoki for medical aid. Police said Seema would be shifted to Darul Aman later on.
Police arrested Sajid who told police that he, with the help of his maternal uncle, had kept his mother in captivity as she was mentally challenged.
CHILD’S BODY: Pattoki police recovered the body of five-year-old boy who had been missing from Habibabad locality since Wednesday and arrested his aunt for his murder.
The suspect had strangled the boy, Farhan, son of Irfan, and dumped his body in a heap of trash. On identification of the locals, police recovered the body that was later identified as Farhan’s.
A few hours after the body was recovered, police arrested the Bashiran Bibi, the wife of Irfan’s elder brother, on suspicion of involvement in the murder.
Police claimed that Irfan’s wife had died and Bashiran wanted him to marry her sister but he refused the proposal. The accused killed Farman to take revenge from Irfan for refusing the proposal.
District Police Officer Imran Kishwar held a press conference at the Pattoki Saddar Police Station and told the media the suspect had admitted to committing the murder.
The DPO said that during investigation, police found shoes of the victim from the suspect’s house that helped them resolve the case.
INJURED: Five young men suffered injuries after being buried under the roof of a snooker club that collap sed due to heavy rain at Basti Sabri on Wednesday night when they were playing the indoor game.
Rescuers shifted the injured, namely Salman, Mithu, Faizan, Abu Bakar, and Shan, to the DHQ Hospital.
FARMERS: Scores of farmers staged a protest demonstration against the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) on the Depalpur Road for increasing the price of electricity and issuing them inflated bills.
They blocked the Allahabad Chowk and chanted slogans against the PTI government.
The farmers also raised their voice against the price hike of fertilisers and pesticide.
Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
