ISLAMABAD: A man was murdered in the capital, while another was injured during a robbery, police said.

According to details, the victim identified as Kamran Aziz, 36, was shot dead in a rural area by unidentified people.

Talking to Dawn, the deceased’s father Manazir Hussain said his son had left for the bazaar for Eid shopping and later the family received information about the incident from police after Aziz was shifted to Poly Clinic. The family visited the hospital and found him dead, he added.

He said that the killer (s) shot him dead in a deserted place near Alipur; some passersby spotted him lying on the road and later shifted him to the hospital. The victim sustained a bullet injury on his head and back, Mr Hussain said, adding the victim or his family never had an enmity or dispute with anyone.

He said unknown killer (s) murdered his son over an unknown reason.

In another incident, suspects injured a watchman identified as Amir Mohammad during a robbery in Blue Area, the police said. Two people broke into a shop, stole cash Rs130,000 but as they were escaping, the watchman intercepted them. One of the robbers pulled out a dagger and stabbed him. Later, Mohammad was shifted to the hospital where he was given medical assistance.

Meanwhile, cash and valuables were stolen from 12 different places, police said. In the first incident, a robber stole cash and valuables worth Rs1.8 million from a house in H-13. Four people armed with weapons raided the house of Ghulam Rasool and held the residents hostage at gunpoint. They ransacked the house and escaped with cash, ornaments and a pistol.

In another incident, armed robbers stole cash and a mobile phone worth Rs76,000 from a man identified as Ghafran Haider. Similarly, cash and a mobile phone worth Rs45,000 was snatched from another man at Noon, police said, adding two persons armed with weapons intercepted Munib Tahir when he reached a bus terminal at Noon and held him up at gunpoint.

Furthermore, burglars broke into a house, located in I-14/4 and escaped with cash and valuables. The incident took place at the house of Mohammad Amir, when the family was away. Upon returning, the family found their home trashed and cash, ornaments, mobile phone and laptop stolen, the police said.

Cash and a mobile phone worth Rs100,000 was stolen from Mohammad Tahir’s car when it was parked near Faizabad. Seven vehicles were also stolen from different areas of capital, they said, adding a Toyota Corolla worth Rs2.7 million was stolen from G-13/2, while an FX worth Rs160,000 was lifted from Gulberg Greens. Two Honda 125, one worth Rs100,000 and the other worth Rs60,000 were stolen from G-9 Markaz and Satra Mil respectively.

Likewise, two Honda 70, one worth Rs50,000 and the other worth Rs33,000 were stolen from G-11/4 and Sihala respectively, police said, adding that a United 70 worth Rs45,000 was lifted from I-8 Markaz.
