MARDAN: Awami National Party district president Haji Latifur Rehman passed away due to coronavirus, party and family sources said here on Thursday.

Latifur Rehman, 55, left behind a widow, son and two daughters. He was admitted to a private hospital in Islamabad when he was diagnosed with coronavirus about a month ago and remained in the health facility till his death.

Party sources said that Latifur Rehman remained on different party posts from union council to district level and presently he was discharging his duties as the ANP Mardan district president.

The Awami National Party leaders in Mardan have expressed their condolences and sympathies over the sad demise of their colleague and district leader.

They said that he was among one of the true followers of Bacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan and had rendered matchless sacrifices for the party and residents of the district.

Latifur Rehman raised his voice for the rights of Pakhtuns and represented them on different forums, they said, adding that his services would always be remembered.
