Four civilians hurt in Indian shelling

MUZAFFARABAD: Four civilians were injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Monday as a result of ceasefire violations by the Indian army from across the Line of Control, police and residents said

They said the casualties occurred in Tatta Pani sector of Kotli district and its adjacent Battal sector of Poonch district where the Indian army resorted to ruthless shelling in the afternoon, “targeting civilian populations without any provocation”.

Giving details they said three members of a family, two of them women, were injured in Tahi village of Battal sector, after a mortar shell fell close to their house while the fourth civilian, also a woman, was injured in Goi Batali village of Tatta Pani sector.

The victims were identified as Rida Basharat, 18, and her sibling Amir Haider, 15, Robina Manzoor, 28, and Salima Bibi, 30.
